DIY Ombre Nails

If you love all things color you will Love Ombre. If you’re not sure what the heck Ombre is lets explain. Ombre is a Gradient Manicure when two or more colors are blended into a gradient into each other on the nails.

Below are some beautiful examples of Ombre Nails.

Believe it or not this look can be achieved at home with a few simple supplies.

  • 3 of your favorite colors of nail polish
  • top coat Fyi: Quick drying top coat is strongly suggested.
  • makeup sponge Fyi: It will be more cost effective to purchase a bag of makeup sponges I have found them cheaper at Walmart.
  • pointed q-tips
  • Scotch Tape
  • nail polish remover

Step One:  Using scotch tape wrap around the nail covering the skin around the nail. This will help extremely with clean up

Step Two:Paint nails with your lightest color, and allow to dry.

Step Three: Paint a generous stripe of each color, from lightest to darkest, or from the darkest to the lightest which ever you prefer across the end of the sponge.  Do not be alarmed the  sponge will soak up some of the polish so you have to add a second layer or a third depending on how vibrant you want the effect to be.

Step Four: Using a pair of scissors turn over your fingers and gently cut a strait line through the scotch tape gently removing the tape from your fingers.

Step Five: Take a remover-soaked Qtip and clean up the edges of each nail.

Step Seven: Finish up by applying a top coat, and get ready to be the envy of all envy! and the best part .. you can say you did it yourself.
